Barnsdales Acquire Marriotts Commercial

Chartered Surveyors, property and facilities management group Barnsdales has acquired Nottingham based Marriotts Commercial (Marriotts) for an undisclosed six figure sum. The purchase is another significant move for the South Yorkshire based business in its stated ambition to grow its property management business and specifically its block management division.

Based in Doncaster with offices throughout the UK, including, Sheffield, Cirencester, London and Manchester, Barnsdales has property management at its core having been founded in 1905 by the current Managing Directors Great Grandfather to manage property. It has extensive experience in managing all types of assets including commercial, build to rent, block, public open space and landlord and tenant and operates nationwide with around 2,700 units under management.

Barnsdales acquisition includes Marriotts entire portfolio of blocks and 100 commercial properties. The dedicated residential block management business, provides management services to 21 blocks with 586 leasehold properties from smaller suburban blocks to city centre buildings in Nottingham City Centre and throughout Nottinghamshire. Four members of staff transfer to Barnsdales as well as Barnsdales  retaining their Nottingham office in Mapperley.

“Barnsdales set out in 2018 to grow its property management business through organic growth and through corporate acquisitions, the business acquired two property management business in 2018 located in Cirencester and Rotherham and two last year in Sheffield and Aylesbury which has added over 1,600 units to our management portfolio” Barnsdales MD Jason Barnsdale MRICS said. “The further acquisition of Marriotts Commercial business is another important acquisition for us and helps strengthen our regional coverage as well as adding to our block management division. By the end of 2020 we are on track to have over 60 blocks under management. The Block Management division of our business is run by Associate and experienced block manager Rebecca O’Neil”.
